since i was a child, it is my ideal to become a doctor. after the college entrance examination, i chose to continue my study at zhejiang university school of medicine without hesitation because i was very interested in the 8-year medical education program (4-year non-medicine bachelor degree and 4-year medical education).
we were trained at chu kochen honors college at the stage of undergraduate. even now my memory is still fresh when i recall the difficult courses such as mathematical analysis and general physics at my undergraduate, since the requirements for mathematics and physics are equivalent to students majored in mathematics and physics. i chose chemistry as my undergraduate major for the first four years in the second year because i participated in the chemistry competition in high school and had a strong interest and love for chemistry.
both chu kochen honors college and school of medicine encourage 8-year medical students to enter the laboratory for scientific research training early. also, i joined a laboratory at the school of basic medicine for scientific research training when i was a sophomore. however, after a period of training, i was confused. on the one hand, my major was chemistry, which was far away from the basic research of life science. on the other hand, i found that i didn't like pure basic research very much. at this time, through my senior schoolmates 's preaching, i was fascinated immediately when i found out that professor tang guping of the department of chemistry engaged in the research of biomaterials and gene vectors. following, i had some tangles in my heart when i left the laboratory at the school of basic medicine.
under the guidance of professor tang guping, i focused on the rare-earth-incorporated polymeric vector for enhanced gene delivery and published an article paper on biomaterials (if = 10.317) as the first author. this project was also supported by the national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training program and the undergraduate thesis also awarded as the top 100 excellent undergraduate thesis of zju. in 2014, as the only elected student representative of zju, i participated in the 6th national innovation annual conference of college students held in central south university and made an academic lecture.
my undergraduate work is mainly to solve the problem of low transfection efficiency of non-viral polymer gene vectors, which limits their clinical application. after i entered medical college, i continued to explore in the field of biomaterials and cardiovascular disease and tried to apply the rare-earth-incorporated polymeric vector in the multi-drug resistant tumor models. the research results were published in biomaterials (if = 10.317) as the co-first author.
after graduation, i continued to work in the department of cardiology of the first affiliated hospital, zhejiang university school of medicine. thanks to the solid clinical and scientific research foundation laid by the 8-year medical education program, i was admitted to the clinical post-doctoral training project. i used chemical research as the method and new biomaterials as the means to solve practical clinical problems. i was supported by the national natural science foundation of china project (81800442 a precision diagnosis and therapeutic system of atherosclerosis with self-assembled nanomaterials based on red blood cell membrane), as well as the zhejiang postdoctoral research project and china postdoctoral science foundation funded project.
recently, i published a research paper on the application of acid-modified montmorillonite in metabolic syndrome intervention and gastric mucosal protection as the first author in biomaterials science (if=6.183). because metabolic syndrome is the risk factor of cardiovascular disease and conventional antithrombotic treatment of cardiovascular disease will increase the risk of gastric bleeding, such modified materials can solve two problems at the same time, which have good clinical conversion value.
moreover, i would like to express my deep and sincere thanks to the medicine x training mode of the 8-year medical education program of zhejiang university school of medicine, since it gives me a chance to apply non-medical professional knowledge and skills to solve practical problems in the clinical field.which helped me to pursue, my physician career with a different kind of brilliance.
